Avaaz.org's global climate petition -- signed by more than 400,000 people from literally every country on earth -- has been presented to top officials everywhere from Germany to Brazil, and has generated headlines worldwide. Avaaz's goal now is to pass half a million signatures this fall, to catch the attention of world leaders before the next round of Kyoto negotiations begin this December. The petition reads as follows:
Petition To World Leaders: Climate change is the greatest threat facing our world today - and we are almost out of time to stop it. You must tackle this problem now, decisively and together. Start working toward a new global agreement this year. Set binding global targets for emissions to avert catastrophic climate change.
