Even those of you not planning to attend this year's Coachella Festival will be interested to hear about a great innovation in festival/ concert greening. Our friends at Global Inheritance are working with Amtrak on the Coachella Express, a train that will take concert-goers out to the festival site in Indio, taking hundreds of cars off the road for the weekend. If you've read the Live Earth Carbon Assessment and Footprint Report, you know that audience travel to events is a huge component of a concert's carbon impact, so between the train and the incentives Coachella gives to carpool to the event (you can win tickets to Coachella for life through their Carpoolchella initiative) they'll reduce the impact of audience travel. If you're going to the event, stop by Global Inheritance's Energy Factory where you can charge your cellphone with bike power, check out the 40-ft clock tower powered by renewable energy, and more. And don't forget your natural sunscreen!
