Capturing Solar Energy In India
I think a gift to mankind is solar energy. Recently I have acquired a single solar light, as a sample. I cannot tell you how versatile it is - I have seen nothing like it. One just has to leave it out in the open during the day, even on a cloudy day. There is an inch and a half solar panel which absorbs the solar energy and has a tiny button which you press in the dark and it sheds enough light to read, to be used as an emergency light when we lose power - which is any time in India.  I use a neon tube light throughout the night as a night light - at least two/three in the house. If you use the solar lamp there is no electricity to pay for. And if this can be used in every household, in residential complexes, on the streets, in villages - throughout the world - can you imagine the saving in energy and costs - our private and public electricity bills would be reduced by a half, two-thirds, who knows how much.ÂÂ
Please spread the good word and let each one of us do our bit. God bless.

I live in Arizona, USA. Where can I get a solar light?
Thank you for the idea!
I read Indrani's input with
I read Indrani's input with interest. There are many options for clean light, even music and information! I have a combo system which has an L.E.D. light, am/fm radio and even a shortwave receiver. It is the size of a small boom box (these are usually just for music)and operates using four options. It has a hand crank for physically winding up an inner spring which turns a small generator within, a solar panel for operation in the sun or runs on batteries (I suggest recharge batteries with a solar charger) or for use with alternating current. The crank gives the option of extended nighttime use off the grid. This product, along with stand alone flashlights, am/fm radios and shortwave receivers are made by c.c. crane company. I'm sure there are other company's that make such as well. I use it at my company's warehouse when making biodiesel and music always makes the day go better!
Go with the green!
