I live in a big HUD senior building which only recycles at this time. I was growing an organic garden back in 1966 and my neighbors thought I was crazy. I do my laundry at my daughter's as she has the high-energy saving washer and dryer. Next year we are going to try a small garden at her house and I will try to do same here on my balcony with flowers and organic veggies in tubs.

I got sick in 1973 and now eat only organic food. I am a part of a group called Live Well and we are all looking to improve our health and the environment. I eat much more raw food and generally eat better on all levels than I did before. No one in this very large building eats or shops like I do. I shop at the food co-op and the health food store, and buy my clothes at my church's thrift shop. If I could find just one other person to help me, I would try and tackle some of the things in this apartment building.
