WEAR A Green String

I "went green" one year ago after seeing An Inconvenient Truth, and was honored to be trained in Nashville as part of the Climate Project.

Here is my tip to remember all the other tips. After you've gotten informed a little, assessed your ecological footprint and identified areas to work on: WEAR a green string around your wrist for a while. My green string reminded me to shorten my shower and turn off the water while I was shaving, it also reminded me to take my canvas bags to the store, turn off lights, drive 60 mph not 75 etc., etc., etc.

I don't have a string on now but my family has gone over our progress a couple times this year. Change is possible, the GREEN STRING helps!!!

There's nothing wrong with a
There's nothing wrong with a bracelet.Whatever works for you. If they become a stmt and generate discussion great. The point originally was just a simple reminder for the wearer. Reminder for your own energy conservation, take the canvas sack, making good choices in the store etc.
It really helps in the process of change.
I give the strings out at my Climate Project talks. So, wear a bracelet but also get some gring embroidery thread, cut it up and hand it out!!! :)

The green string is a great
The green string is a great idea to help me to remember my green grocery bags. I always remember as I get up to the checkout and have to run outside to the car! I will keep spreading the word!!
That's a great idea...but not
That's a great idea...but not just for a reminder; it could become a fasion/political statement like the livestrong bands! If everyone started wearing a green string around their wrist, I think eco-awareness could spread.

Why not wear a green bracelet, which is also fashonable.

I agree, it is definitely a global issue. What I meant by political statement was that it would show other people what you stand for. And you don't have to live in the US to share this "political view".

I agree with Adam. The green
I agree with Adam. The green string can become a symbol of eco-awareness and can really help spread the word!
It should not become a political statement, though, because it is something that threatens all the people all over the globe!

Great idea...one way to
Great idea...one way to shorten your shower is to set your alarm a little later, but will make you move faster and take a shorter shower, plus you get a few extra minutes of sleep!
I jus started the green
I jus started the green string thing and now it really reminds me not to stay in the shower for what feels like hours when i only need 15 minutes. It also reminds me to turn the light off when leaving the room. It helps me in staying green. This was a great idea.
