Stella McCartney's New Green Fashion Line
Submitted by Live Earth on 20 October, 2008 - 16:35
Designer Stella McCartney, Paul's daughter, recently released a new sustainable collection at Barney's. Her new collection includes her signature pieces as well as new designs, but the best part is is that she promises that all items will be "100% organic, sustainable and ethical." Julie Gilhart, Barney's fashion director stated:
It's the first time a major designer has done a collection that's so organic. It was a separate undertaking that Stella did for us. She had to source differently, do new designs and add extra expenses. In talking to other designers, there is an interest but maybe they are not as familiar with it as Stella naturally is. She is the most perfect to start this with.

I wish more consumers cared whether their items were made in a safe working environment by happy, well paid staff than in a nasty illegal sweatshop.
