Friends of Live Earth: Young Climate Savers
In 2007, WWF-India and Tetra Pak joined together to educate the youth about global climate change and energy efficiency. What was created was the Young Climate Savers program, which was to be implemented as a series of workshops on climate change in schools across the country.
The Young Climate Savers have proven to be a huge success. Months ago, Live Earth donated documentaries to WWF-India and gave them the screening rights for educational use and awareness establishment for schools in India. Amazingly, the Young Climate Savers screened eight documentaries in projected cities across the country.
The Savers first annual report stated that:
The viewership included an audience of about 20,000 students, 200 teachers and 20 schools in ten major cities of India. The videos were also screened in many teacher training institutions, engineering colleges of national repute, other educational institutions and corporate bodies. The striking and effective visuals immediately conveyed the message of the urgent need for every citizen of the country to combat climate change.
We couldn’t be more thrilled! As an outcome there has been a notable attitudinal change among the students and teachers about climate change and energy consumption. Thank you Young Climate Savers for your dedication to the cause and inspiration for thousands.
