Friends of Live Earth Featured Event: Oklahoma City

FOLE OKC

We are proud to highlight the wonderful Friends of Live Earth Run for Water events being planned around the world for April 18, 2010.

The Friends of Live Earth: Run for Water Oklahoma is a weekend festival focusing on water issues, eco-friendliness and “greening” that will be held in the Oklahoma City’s Adventure District in Oklahoma City. The purpose is to bring education and awareness of how precious our natural resources are -- especially water.

The Eco-Village is designed to showcase and educate Oklahomans on energy and alternative energy resources, eco-friendly vehicles, eco- and environmentally-friendly products and services as well as other organizations and governmental agencies that are focusing on conserving, protecting, reducing, reusing and recycling programs. The educational components are designed to bring focus and attention to issues that both individuals and companies face as we pursue our lives.

The weekend of events includes a 6K Run for Water and a Kids 1 mile Walk/Run, the state's largest ever eco-village and festival, conference sessions, and a music festival with local cutting edge Oklahoma bands that are featured acts within
Dfest Music Festival and Norman Music Festival and produced by the longest tenured and successful concert producer in Oklahoma, Howard Pollack. The foot-print for the weekend of events will span indoor and outdoor facilities at Remington Park, The Oklahoma City Zoo and The Softball Hall of Fame, throughout the Oklahoma City’s Adventure District.

The 6K will be completely "cupless," with organic shirts, almost zero waste and the most eco-friendly run in the state's history. The specifically designed course will finish at the National Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – host site of the NCAA Women's Softball World Series where they can watch themselves finish on the stadiums interactive big screen and spectators can watch from stadium seats as the runners finish their run and walk.
