Vancouver Promotes Tap Water During Olympic Games

vancouver olympics

Metro Vancouver is promoting the use of the city’s wonderful tap water instead of purchasing the very unecofriendly bottled water. According to officials in the area, Vancouver is hoping to reduce the city’s bottled water consumption by 20% at the end of the year. This is all part of their Tap Water Campaign.

Several businesses in the city have gone the extra mile and will no longer be selling bottled water. The Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel will instead offer hotel guests the option to purchase a reusable steel water bottle.

Vancouver isn’t the only Olympic city actively promoting tap water instead of wasteful bottled water. Officials in London have included plans to provide free tap water to tourists when they host the 2012 Olympic Summer Games. In addition, many U.S. municipalities have already banned the purchase of bottled water for city-funded events.

This is great news! Hopefully more cities will jump on the bandwagon!
