State and city leaders from around the world have gathered in California for the Governors' Global Climate Summit, which runs through Friday.

At the helm of this initiative is California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who launched this summit last year and is continuing his efforts after a successful first year where international leaders signed a memorandum of understanding on reducing greenhouse gases from deforestation among other initiatives.

Schwarzenegger hopes that the Governor's Global Climate Summit will provide a groundwork for the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen later this year, which he has stated that he hopes to attend.
