U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will take office in January. What does this mean for America's focus on sustainability and renewable energy? More importantly, will the administration of Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden make America's role in fixing the global climate crisis a priority?

Think you've greened every part of your life, but have no control over your office? Think again. As many of you spend a significant amount of time at work, whether it’s at the office, at home, or somewhere else, there are always measures you can take to reduce your impact. Here are a few easy steps that can make all the difference.
- Power Down. Using a screen saver requires as much energy as surfing the web. If one million people shut down their office computers at night, up to 45,000 tons of CO2 per year. So help out, and shut your computer down when you leave at night
- Flip the Switch. Get into the habit of turning the lights out when you leave a room. If your office has a kitchen, be sure to turn the lights out when you aren’t using it (and unplugging the appliances!). This trick will serve you, your energy bill, and the environment well, not only at work but also at home.

Thinking of ways to save money? Bring your lunch to work or school instead of ordering or buying. Plenty writes that, "average takeout meal costs $6, while brown-bagging it only costs $2 per day. Over a year, you could save $2000 if you simply brought a homemade lunch every day instead of eating out."
By bringing your lunch you have better control over how much you spend, how much you eat, and, you are forced to make better food choices. Having a hard time getting the process started? Here are a few tips to help.
- Make enough food so that you have leftovers for the following days. Casseroles, stir-fry, meatloaf and pastas are great dinners that you can make in large amounts and bring to work for the weekdays.
- Get creative with your meals and switch it up with one great purchase…if you have leftover chicken you can make a chicken salad, chicken soup, chicken fingers, ect… then every day can be mixed up but you’ll save by using the whole chicken

Trying to have a more environmentally friendly Halloween this year? It's not as hard as you might assume.
Just follow the suggestions below to find eco-friendly ways to celebrate the night.
Bag and Baskets
- Skip the plastic bags and reach for something you already have like your pillowcase or a basket.
- Jazz them up a little! Decorate them with a Halloween theme and reuse them year after year or decorate them to match your costume.
Costumes
- Reuse costumes that you or your friends have already wore in the past.
- Go to the local thrift store and collect items to create your perfect costume. FYI it’s easier to go with a costume already in mind that way you aren’t there for hours.
Decorations
- Do you have any battery operated decorations? Use rechargeable batteries to lessen waste and save the environment
- Bring the outdoors inside! The leaves may be falling and the natural look and smell of them could be just what your need to complete your decor.

Everybody's buzzing about Apple's brand new MacBook. Inside the Mac notebooks' updated, chic design is one of the greenest laptops in the industry, according to Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs, who highlighted the company's commitment to advancing sustainable technology in his 2008 Environmental Update.
The MacBook's all-aluminum case and glass screen are recyclable. All internal components are BFR- and PVC-free and Apple eliminated mercury and arsenic from the MacBook display as part of its commitment to phase out the use of toxic chemicals.
The new MacBooks are lighter and slimmer, allowing a 41% cut on packaging and decreasing the carbon footprint of the product's entire life.
The MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air may be pricier than other laptops but by minimizing its impact on the environment, Apple's products are all the more attractive.
