Sustainable Living Roadshow

SLR

The Sustainable Living Roadshow (SLR) is a caravan of educators and entertainers who tour the country in a fleet of renewable fuel vehicles to empower communities and individuals to utilize sustainable living strategies for a healthier planet. They will be visiting K-12 schools, university campuses and community festivals across the United States, where the caravan sets up off-the-grid eco-carnivals with experiential learning villages, featuring workshops, speakers and entertainment.

The SLR will be launching their 11-week Fall 2008 "Be the Change" Tour at the Democratic and Republican National Convention, and continuing onto 8 college campuses. Their goal is to provide a platform for local businesses, organizations and community leaders to come together in a festival atmosphere to present a local and national atmosphere for sustainability. During this time of political tension, global climate change and economic instability, "Be the Change" is working towards presenting this type of information as an omni-partisan agenda - they want to make sure that the issues that really matter to our communities and planet do not get lost in the political campaign this year. SLR will bring off-the-grid infrastructure to create an eco-carnival atmosphere.

Zap Car, an electronic car

Zap Car, an electronic car manufacturer, just signed an agreement with the state of KY to move its China plant to KY. Up to 4000 new jobs for Americans, producing "green" cars and trucks. I see you will be in TN, so maybe your fleet could stop in KY at the site where the new plant will be. A horse racing festival will be going on nearby, so there will be lots of people (http://www.kentuckydowns.com/).

I'm so glad that there’s an organization out there that’s actually walking the "Green" talk. With all the talk about "change" surrounding the elections it's important that we focus on what that change is and how it will usher in a sustainable future for not only our children and our children’s children but for everyone alive today. There is no greater issue that should be on the forefront of every voters mind this year.

What a fantastic idea! I

What a fantastic idea! I really like the omni-partisan concept, very smart. As much as some of the generation of our parents talk about "leaving the earth for our children", it's really the K-12 and the college students that are going to take the reigns and make the shift.
