One year later...July 7 2008.

Everyone here at Live Earth has been thinking about the year that's passed since our concert events last summer. In the intervening time "green" has become part of the international conversation, and of course Al Gore and the IPCC shared the Nobel prize for their work on climate issues. While we are proud of our contribution to the growing global awareness of the climate crisis, we're also very much focused on how to advance global solutions, because we're still not seeing strong global leadership. Japan, Canada, and the United States are blocking discussion of targets for reductions of greenhouse gas emissions at the G8 summit. Our friends at Avaaz.org are taking out an ad and have started a petition demanding responsible leadership - you can sign on and support the ad here.Everyone here at Live Earth has been thinking about the year that's passed since our concert events last summer.  In the intervening time "green" has become part of the international conversation: major corporations have launched environmentally responsible brands, presidential candidates are offering plans to fight climate change, high gas prices are making conservation a necessity, and of course Al Gore and the IPCC shared the Nobel prize for their work on climate issues.  While we are proud of our contribution to the growing global awareness of the climate crisis, we're also very much focused on how to advance global solutions, because we're still not seeing strong global leadership.  Right now, at the G8 summit in Hokkaido, Japan, Canada, and the United States are blocking discussion of targets for reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.  Our friends at Avaaz.org are taking out an ad and have started a petition demanding responsible leadership (you can sign on and support the ad here) - it's funny, but the situation couldn't be more serious.  Stay tuned for more updates from Live Earth on our next events....we've come a long way in the last year, but we have much more work to do.

Guitar Hero & Rock Band meet

Guitar Hero & Rock Band meet Live Earth! in Upstate South Carolina public school!

When we noticed Keith Urban & Alicia Keys' Live Earth performance of Gimmie Shelter was also on Rock Band we knew we had a once in a life-time opportunity.

We approached a local Middle School about the idea of an innovative twist to science education. They agreed so we brought two XBOX 360 Rock Band sets (complete with drums & mic) to the school for the 6th grade science classes. First we played portions of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth DVD. Next we played Gimmie Shelter from the Live Earth DVD (which happens to include the great intro by Leonardo DiCaprio!). Then we conducted a mini Guitar Hero tournament for the kids. It was great fun and relevant and they learned! It went so well we are planning to do the same thing this Fall in more schools.
