On December 7, 2008, Live Earth India, this year’s concert for a climate in crisis, will feature world-renowned musicians and performers, environmental advocates and celebrities from India, the U.S. and all over the globe.

Live Earth India will feature personal and policy solutions to the climate crisis, offer support for India’s most important environmental issues and causes, and provide a platform so India can continue its global climate leadership.

Climate Ride ‘08

Focus the Nation has partnered with the Brita Climate Ride and gearing up for a bike ride from New York City to DC, where riders will demand green energy, green transportation and Green Jobs Now! The Brita Climate Ride, is a climate conference on wheels, a vehicle for direct engagement between citizens and Congress, and a fundraiser for Focus the Nation and Clean Air-Cool Planet.

Power Vote! Sign the Pledge

On campuses and in communities nationwide, youth are leading the way in responding to the global climate crisis. Power Vote, a national non-partisan effort spearheaded by the Energy Action Coalition is seeking to elevate the issue of climate change in the 2008 election by mobilizing one million young “climate voters.â€

Climate Crisis Issues and the Democratic National Convention

We hope you all had the chance to hear Mr. Gore’s speech at the Democratic National Convention. While Live Earth is a nonpartisan organization, we were certainly glad to see Mr. Gore raising the climate crisis issue for the country at the convention - and discussing the ways we can act now to solve it. You can watch the convention speech on Mr. Gore’s website. Renewable energy, green jobs, and sustainability were part of many of the speeches at the convention. We are very curious to hear how the Republicans address climate change at their convention next week!

The first presidential debate is scheduled for September 26th. The following day on Saturday, September 27th Green Jobs Now has partnered with the We Campaign and will be launching a national mobilization to say to the country “I’m ready for the green economy.â€

Gore to Lay Out Unprecedented Challenge on Energy and Climate

On Thursday, July 17th, former Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore outlined his bold vision for the future of America’s energy needs at D.A.R. Constitution Hall. The speech offered a new way of thinking about our energy production and consumption and a new sense of what is possible when we choose to work together.
