The CLEAN-India programme aims to mobilize community responsibility for environment assessment and improvement in all-major towns and cities of India through a network of schools and NGOs linked with government, business, academic and other institution.  Over 75,000 kids volunteer all over India .

The Clean India kids are engaged in a variety of eco-activities such as: water quality monitoring, ambient air quality monitoring, solid waste mangement (vermi-composting), waste paper recycling, planting and nurturing native trees, maintaining herb corners, enenrgy and water audits and conservation, cleaning of river banks and streams and setting up of water purification units, vermi composting units  and rain water harvesting systems in some schools and in communties.
5 CLEAN-India schools have started with recycling all the waste paper generated in their schools towards saving trees, conservation of natural resources including water , saving on power, reduction in pollution of water and land and load on landfill and emission of GHGs.
One school (Sanskriti school, Delhi) has started a climate change group of 150 students and one of them (Lavanya) was selected to participate in the Youth meet in UK.
Water quality monitoring in a stretch of yamuna near the Ram ghat and cleaning of the river bamk as shram Dhan.
