Are you ready for Memorial Day Weekend? We sure are!

There's really nothing more American than a Memorial Day BBQ with friends and family, so why not do so in an eco-friendly way and share the love?

Go reusable! Show off all your great summer colored dishes. But in case you must go disposable, be smart about it. Find products that are made from recycled materials or that are biodegradable. Plates and cups made from recycled materials are available at your local grocery store.

Go with green food! Shop for your snacks at local co-ops or famers markets in your neighborhood. Various fruits and vegetables always seem to taste better when they don’t travel far. There are also some really great, tasty vegetarian options out there such as grilled tofu, vegetable kabobs, soy dogs (we love Smart Dogs or veggie burgers to reduce your meal’s environmental footprint.

Go recycle! Make recycling easy for you party attendees and have clearly marked bins so people can clearly see and put recyclables where they belong.

Our friends over at mnn.com also point out a great tip that most people can easily forget - Make sure you’re not wasting needless electricity inside your home while the whole family is outside! Turn off all the unnecessary lights and appliances in your home before you head out the door to enjoy the sunshine.
