MillerCoors Environmental Beer BreweryMillerCoors recognizes its ability to make a positive impact on our environment. The brewery is on the right track, according to a new sustainability report released by the joint venture between Miller and Coors Brewing companies.

On its way to running a zero-waste operation, MillerCoors reused or recycled 98 percent of all brewery in 2008 waste including glass, paperboard, plastics, metals and byproducts, according to the report.

The company reduced the diameter of the aluminum can ends slightly and in turn saved $10.1 million and reduced the need for 10.4 million pounds of unnecessary aluminum, the study revealed.

MillerCoors also produced 1.7 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol entirely from waste beer -- very creative!

In addition to their current accomplishments, the company developed several environmental goals set to be completed by 2015. MillerCoors expects to reduce the amount of retail packaging by 75 million tons and to cut water usage by 15 percent.

These adjustments and future goals will be positive changes for every level of the MillerCoors operation!
