This Saturday, July 18th is Mandela Day. This day serves to honor Nelson Mandela’s amazing life and the influence he has had. It is also a global call to action for people to recognize their individual power to make a change in the world around them.

Organizers are asking people around the world to take some time to make a contribution on Saturday and everyday! This year, New York City will be the home of Mandela Day with a massive concert at Madison Square Garden featuring Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Will.i.am, Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, Cyndi Lauper, and many more.

Furthermore, they are asking people to volunteer just 67 minutes of their time to help others, a figure correlating to the 67 years Mr. Mandela has spent fighting social injustice
