From the White House to the Empire State Building, green makeovers are changing the face of America!
With today's announcement of the "Empire State Building Leadership in American Progress in Sustainability" project, Johnson Controls has committed to renovations of $20 million in addition to the work already under way on the 79-year-old New York City skyscraper.

The NBA has announced plans for its first ever "Green Week." Running from April 2nd – 10th, Green Week will feature lots of community services programs, auctions to benefit environmental organizations and PSAs featuring actor/environmentalist Robert Redford.
US professional basketball teams are going green!
From April 2nd – 10th, NBA Green Week teams and players will raise awareness of environmental issues by taking part in community services programs, auctions to benefit environmental organizations, and wearing green jerseys. Phoenix Suns star Steve Nash shot a great video for Green Week, as did actor/environmentalist Robert Redford.

The NRDC held a fabulous eco-friendly ball in NYC this week called the “Forces of Nature” gala. The celebrity packed gala was to honor fashion designer Stella McCartney and David Zaslav, CEO/President of Discovery Communications for their work in helping to protect the environment and for being leaders in the environmental industry.

More than 1 Million Participate in Friends of Live Earth events in India
Despite our decision to cancel our Live Earth India event in December 2008 because of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, we were thrilled that so many of our community partners in India decided to continue with the "Friends of Live Earth" events they had already planned. Live Earth continues to work for solutions to the climate crisis for the good of the people of India and around the world. We were inspired by the enthusiastic response to the "Friends of Live Earth India" program we have received from environmental, educational, corporate, and other organizations throughout India and internationally, and we welcomed the opportunity to reach individuals, students, and employees through the "Friends" events, creating a lasting legacy of awareness and change. We felt that the Friends of Live Earth Program was one of the best ways we could continue to support our mission after the cancellation of our concert event.

Cathy is very well versed on anything and everything having to do with environmental policy. Prior to joining the Alliance, she spent two decades in the energy and environmental sectors in the United States and Australia.
