Matt Damon is at it again!
Actor and advocate Matt Damon's H2O Africa and the WaterPartners International have partnered merged to create water.org, a non-profit that provides the developing world with access to safe water and sanitation. Its mission is to assist the 2.5 billion people that lack clean sanitation and 890 million people without safe water worldwide.”
Water.org is making great strides and currently has projects in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

Social media is about connecting people and providing the tools necessary to have a conversation. That global conversation is an extremely powerful platform for spreading information and awareness about social causes and issues. That's one of the reasons charities can benefit so greatly from being active on social media channels. But you can also do a lot to help your favorite charity or causes you are passionate about through social media.

When world leaders gather in Copenhagen this December they will be discussing some of the most important and pressing climate issues facing the world today.
These world influencers are leaving no green stone unturned as they make an effort to environmentally spruce up their trips to the event.
Denmark has developed a luxurious and eco-friendly solution to the issue of ground transportation throughout the conference.
The attendees will be transported in limousines that run on experimental biofuels made from plant waste. How creative!

This September, the U.S. Senate will vote on the “American Clean Energy and Security Act” passed in the U.S. House of Representatives this summer. This landmark bill will revitalize our economy by creating millions of new jobs, increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and preserve our planet by reducing the pollution that causes global warming.

The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed comprehensive climate change legistlation today after months of contentious debate. Thanks to your calls and actions, the historic American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES) will now be voted on by the Senate.
The Act will lead to millions of green jobs and place curbs on emissions that lead to global warming, passed by a vote of 219-212 after last-minute rallying for the bill by President Obama (see below), Repower America, Green for All, and others.
The legislation calls for the U.S. to reduce its greenhouse-gas emissions by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020.

After years of climate inaction -- China recently surpassed the U.S. as the world's largest emitter of CO2 -- the country is ramping up efforts to transition to a clean-energy economy.
The Chinese government announced a plan to produce 20 percent of it's energy from renewable sources by 2020 and is expected to spend billions on green technology as part of its economic stimulus package.
China is also working toward railway expansion, coal plant modernization, improving land use planning, and more.

The Climate and Energy Bill (formally the American Clean Energy and Security Act) may be voted on as soon as Friday in Washington.
This morning, Al Gore wrote:
"Make no mistake, this is the most important environmental vote of this generation. If passed this legislation will put us on the road to actually solving the climate crisis, in addition to building a green economy.
Contact your member of Congress and make sure they vote yes."

Live Earth is constantly crawling the Internet for examples of communities, organizations, and governments utilizing new technology and social media for good, green causes.
In the past few months we partnered with the global Twestival, which raised over a quarter-million dollars for charity:water and helped UNEP plant 10,000 trees for World Environment Day.
Live Earth's senior advisor for all things social media, Geoff Livingston, outlined five ongoing social media initiatives for good that we can all take part in.

350.org has a great new video that really sums up their movement toward legislation in every corner of the globe in the fight for a fair climate treaty.
Hopefully this will inspire people to stand together as one planet, united by a common call to action and make it clear that the world desperately needs an international plan that coincidences with the latest science and help us move forward in a sustainable way, while protecting our precious environment.
