US Public Transit Riders Save $9,200 a Year Compared to Auto Drivers
Looks like taking public transportation is not only good for the world, but good for your pocket. According to a recent study by the American Public Transportation Association - the average American who takes public transit saves $9,240 a year!!
To come to this number, they compiled the average costs of parking, gas, and tolls each year. They also went as far as to report how much a rider saves in the 20 top cities for public transit.
The study found that the bus riders, train-takers, and subway hoppers among us save an average of $770 a month, when compared to commuting by car.
The cities with the top savings include – NYC, Boston and San Francisco
