Plastic bags have become a serious pollution issue in recent decades. But we’re happy to see that many countries and cities are doing what they can to reduce the waste with new laws and bans in the works. Cities in the U.S. like San Francisco, Austin and Malibu are working hard to ban plastic bags.
China was facing its own massive plastic bag problem, often referred to as “white pollution.” So in a step to drastically reduce the use of bags, the Chinese government passed a country-wide plastic bag ban in January 2008. The law specifically states that supermarkets and other sales outlets are prohibited from providing free plastic bags.
The National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) has a great, straight forward five-step plan to repower, refuel and rebuild America.
In the fight to stop climate change this means more than just changing your lightbulbs.
It means taking action.
It means investing in clean energy, getting involved and making smart energy solutions, but most of all – spreading the word.
