But multiple companies have made serious investments toward delivering solar energy from space within the next decade.
Major U.S. companies are aggressively researching the technology to beam the energy from one big satellite and then transmit the power back to Earth.

Summer break is an ideal time to approach school administrators about concerns regarding the healthiness of your child's learning environment, for example, what products are used to clean the school? Is there a greener way to do it?
Research shows a clear link between poor indoor air quality, sick students and teachers, and poor academic and occupational performance.

Sir Paul McCartney and his family launched a campaign urging people to reject meat and go vegetarian once a week to help combat climate change.
Together with his daughters Stella and Mary, his son James, and other A-list stars including Yoko Ono, Chris Martin, and Sheryl Crow, the former Beatle wants everyone to give up meat on Mondays.
The aim of the campaign, called Meat Free Monday, is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the world's livestock population, thought to be a major cause of global warming.

The city of San Francisco just announced the passing of the toughest and most comprehensive recycling law in the U.S.
According to several studies, about 36% of what San Francisco sends to the landfills is compostable, and another 31 percent is recyclable.
Think of all that could be diverted from the landfills if we change our habits.
We think everyone should take note! Recycling is one of the best ways a person can make a difference in their community. The effort is relatively simple, generally supported by curbside pick up and can even be financially beneficial. Plus, it benefits the planet.

Close to a billion people lack access to clean drinking water. We can help to lower that number this week by asking the U.S. Congress to pass the Water for the World Act.
The bipartisan legislation would make water and sanitation important pillars of America’s foreign policy in developing countries, with the target of providing 100 million people with first-time access to safe and sustainable drinking water and sanitation by 2015.

Today - June 5th - is World Environment Day! Celebrate the wonderful environment we live in and inspire others to do what they can to ensure and protect its beauty.
Hundreds of events and activities are being held to celebrate the day around the world and online.
One event is the worldwide release of the highly anticipated film, HOME (watch it online here), by renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

This Friday is World Environment Day and it's also the highly symbolic date set for the release of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's documentary "Home."
The movie is a collection of breathtaking unique aerial footage from over 50 countries, which will show the state of the planet in natural and urban areas with the goal of inciting people to act. "Home" is more than a documentary with a message, it's a magnificent movie, every breathtaking shot shows the Earth as we have never seen it before.
