SF-recycling-binsThe city of San Francisco just announced the passing of the toughest and most comprehensive recycling law in the U.S.

According to several studies, about 36% of what San Francisco sends to the landfills is compostable, and another 31 percent is recyclable.

Think of all that could be diverted from the landfills if we change our habits.

We think everyone should take note! Recycling is one of the best ways a person can make a difference in their community. The effort is relatively simple, generally supported by curbside pick up and can even be financially beneficial. Plus, it benefits the planet.

But with only five cosponsors, the bill isn’t receiving the attention needed for further congressional action. Please click here and sign the petition!

Nature Rocks

Spending family time outside is easy, fun, free and makes us more connected to our great world. A growing body of scientific research shows that kids who do spend time outside are happier, healthier and smarter. Even though this seems like a no-brainer, kids today are spending much less time outside than we did when we were children.

Nature Rocks, a great new campaign founded by the Children & Nature Network and ecoAmerica, aims to inspire parents to reconnect their families to nature.
