Brad Pitt Receives Green Building Award for Making it Right

Brad Pitt was recognized with an award for his efforts to rebuild New Orleans with sustainable housing at the Clinton Global Initiative last week.
The from the U.S. Green Buildings Council recognized the actor's Make It Right Foundation and its work to rebuild New Orleans' 9th Ward, which was badly hit by 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
"Make It Right offers a blueprint for how to build homes that instill pride and combine to form communities of hope and opportunity," said President Clinton. "By following the Make It Right model, we can generate the green collar jobs our economy needs to move forward and advance building practices that reduce carbon emissions, while at the same time growing neighborhoods where families can thrive."
While only 13 houses have been completed to date, there are plans for a total of 150 and will make unbelievable differences in the lives of those families who move in.
Make it Right goes the extra mile by focusing on energy efficiency, with the ability to withstand major storms and have solar panels on the roof. Each of the homes will undergo LEED certification with the hopes of receiving a Platinum rating.
Big props to Mr. Pitt and the Make it Right team!
