Human actions are destroying Earth's oceans: what can we do about it?
Discovery's Planet Green teamed up with the NRDC to explore such questions in the documentary "Acid Test," hosted by Sigourney Weaver. "Acid Test" premieres tonight at 10:30 EDT as part of Planet Green's Blue August series.

It should come as no surprise that at-home and professional car washes are not the most environmentally friendly practices.
Not only can a do-it-yourself car wash use up to 140 gallons of water, but typical car washing liquids can also create harmful fumes and toxic residues.

More than half of all Americans drink bottled water and unfortunately about a third of the population considers themselves regular uses of bottled water, according to the NRDC. Sales have tripled in the past 10 years, to about $4 billion a year.

Bottled water sales have tripled in the past 10 years, to about $4 billion a year. This crazy influx of sales is due to millions of dollars spent on deceiving marketing campaigns to make us think bottled water is healthier, cleaner and safe for the environment.

On April 14th Hugh posted the following call on his Twitter page:
“I will donate 100K to one individual's favorite non profit organization. Of course, you must convince me why by using 140 characters or less.”
He received thousands of suggestions and finally made his difficult decision this morning.

charity:water will be drilling the first well from the funds raised by Twestival starting on April 11th. They will post a new video of their drilling efforts (every day until April 14th), as well as introducing us all to the different communities that each of us helped through or donations.

More than 10,000 individual donors contributed just shy of $250,000 during the February 12th global Twestival.

The people are listening and just in time for World Water Week! According to two recent studies, more of the population is becoming perfectly happy to stick with their tap water instead of buying bottled. Sales of bottled water are falling as more people turn to the tap at home and when eating out.

According to two recent studies, more of the population is turning to tap water instead of buying bottled.
This is wonderful news considering the millions of dollars in marketing that companies spend each year to convince people that bottled water is better, when in fact dozens of taste tests have proven otherwise. Not to mention bottled waters lasting impact on the environment.

UNICEF will be launching an internet radio station to raise awareness, support and donations for the Tap Project – an annual effort to help the 1 billion people around the world that don’t have access to clean drinking water. The station will kick off on World Water Day, and will run for the duration of what has become World Water Week - March 22-28 and features an amazing list of guest DJ’s including OK GO, Rilo Kiley, Duran Duran as well as celebrity DJ’s like Elijah Wood and Rosanne Arquette.

On February 12th, more than 200 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water. Twestival was a great success, creating a global buzz while raising more than $250,000 to provide clean water for some of the 1.1 billion who live without it.

It has become a trend in recent years to declare that "water will be the oil of the 21st century." Basically making it an essential and limited resource, unevenly distributed around the world based on power and money.
