The Hip Hop Caucus is an organization whose mission is to foster civic engagement among young people on issues of social and economic justice, human rights, the environment, and international peace, so they can attain increased opportunities for themselves and their communities. Their main focus is on meeting young people where they are, by linking cultural expression with social and political experience.

The most recent project is the Hip Hop Caucus' Clean Energy Now! Bus Tour. It is a collaboration of Gore’s RePower America and a coalition of diverse national and grassroots organizations. The Hip Hop Caucus Clean Energy Now! Tour traveled from Louisiana, through Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, and ended up in Washington, D.C.

The tour features dynamic celebrities, entertainers, elected officials, and national and local leaders at a variety of events, from rallies, to roundtables, to tours of clean energy job sites.

Biz Markie joined such notables as E.P.A. Chief Lisa P. Jackson, actress Gloria Reuben, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.), Alliance for Climate Protection President and CEO Maggie Fox, Hip Hop Caucus President Rev. Lennox Yearwood and Black Leadership Forum President and CEO Gary Flowers for the conclusion of the Hip Hop Caucus' Clean Energy Now! Bus tour, which has made stops in New Orleans, Indianapolis, Arkansas and Missouri.

The President and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus, The Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., spoke about the tour that he said is fighting poverty and pollution at the same time. Yearwood said while the Civil Rights Movement’s fight for equality defined the 20th century, this century will focus on a new movement. “Our movement for our generation is fighting for existence,” Yearwood said.

The goal was to "bring more awareness and mobilize more demographics on the issue of clean energy jobs and obviously the issue of passing climate legislation, sooner [rather] than later."
