SOS | Live Earth

SOS is the ongoing messaging campaign and larger movement behind Live Earth.

The mission of the SOS campaign is to empower individuals to change their consumer behaviors and motivate corporations and political leaders to enact decisive measures to combat the climate crisis. The message of SOS is that everyone, everywhere can and must Answer the Call to solve the climate crisis.

The SOS campaign's identity and language is based on the international Morse code distress call: three dots, followed by three dashes, followed by three dots.

The SOS signal will be used as a continuous call to action to prompt individuals, corporations and governments around the world to Answer the Call with immediate and sustained action.

The SOS campaign is using a powerful multimedia platform - short films, television and radio PSAs, an interactive web experience, books, the Live Earth concerts themselves - to provide a global audience with the tools to tackle the climate crisis.

This multimedia campaign will ensure that the message of Live Earth echoes long after 7/7/07.

KEVIN WALL

Kevin Wall founded SOS to trigger a mass-scale movement to combat our climate crisis. Wall is an Emmy Award-winning producer whose career has ranged from helping produce more than 300 concerts for artists like Bob Dylan to serving as Worldwide Executive Producer of Live 8, which brought together one of the largest audiences in history to combat poverty. He is the CEO of Control Room, which produces and distributes live music concerts on theInternet, radio, television, mobile phones, at retail stores and in theaters. Wall was Vice-Chairman of a global Internet consulting firm, where he led the strategic acquisition and organization of 42 companies to build a venture with 3,000 employees and 38 offices. He is a co-founder of a venture capital fund currently invested in the semiconductor, software and convergence sectors.

AL GORE

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the author of An Inconvenient Truth, the best-selling book on the threat of and solutions to global warming and the subject of the movie of the same title, which has been nominated for two Academy Awards.

Gore has been the leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming since his election to the U.S. Congress 30 years ago. Gore's pioneering efforts were outlined in his best-selling book "Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit" (1992). He led the Clinton-Gore Administration's efforts to protect the environment in a way that also benefited the economy. He is currently the Chair of the Alliance for Climate Protection. In addition, Gore is cofounder and Chairman of Generation Investment Management, a firm that is focused on a new approach to Sustainable Investing. He also is cofounder and Chairman of Current TV, an independently owned cable and satellite television network for young people based on viewer-created content and citizen journalism.
