Climate Crisis Solution #35: Ride a Bike!
In Copenhagen, 33% of commuters travel by bike. Perhaps it's no coincidence that a recent survey ranked Denmark as the happiest of 178 countries.
A huge portion of our car travel could easily be done by bike. In California, for example, warm weather makes cycling possible almost year-round, more than half of all commutes are 5 miles or less, and 40% of trips are less than 2 miles - that's easy biking!
Using a bike for transportation will keep you healthy and happy, and it will change the way you see the world. Powered by breakfast rather than a $3.50 gallon of gas, you may come across a friend, have a chance to stop and chat for a minute, and enjoy your neighborhood. And once you arrive, you'll find a parking spot anywhere!

Thanks for the great reminder
Thanks for the great reminder about biking as a climate change solution. At Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, we've started a "Burn Calories, Not Carbon!" pledge (www.railstotrails.org/pledge) that addresses this issue by asking people to walk and bike more and drive less. I'd encourage anyone interested to check it out and take the pledge!
Thanks,
Kartik
